Thursday, July 23 - George Tooker: A Retrospective @ the Columbus Museum of Art
Cost: $4 per person (if you can't afford it but still want to join us, come anyway - "scholarships" are available)
Where/When: Meet at 6:30pm in the lobby of the Columbus Museum of Art, 480 East Broad Street
Details: Perhaps you are familiar with the "hauntingly beautiful and unforgettable imagery" of the 20th Century American painter George Tooker - or perhaps his work is new to you. Either way, you will learn something new during this hour-long tour of sixty of his paintings and drawings at the Columbus Museum of Art. Yes, he is controversial, and we know his lifestyle wasn't always what we as Catholics strive for - but his late-in-life conversion to Catholicsim can be seen in his changing influences and themes. Learn more about the exhibit (there's even a video!).

It’s no joke—everyone has a vocation! Some of us are called to be priests or religious, some are called to be husbands, wives, and parents, and some of us have other callings. Do you know what yours is? Tonight’s panelists will tell you how they found their place in the world and give you some thoughts on where you can find yours. We’ll hear from Sister Rita Jane, Fr. Jeff from the Vocations Office, Stephanie Jenemann from the Marriage and Family Life Office, and some other special guests —and there will be plenty of time for your questions! - August 19, 2008, Mass Confusion: What Do I Say? When Do I Kneel?, by Deacon Tom Johnston
Have you ever looked around during Mass and suddenly realized you’re the only one standing? Do you sometimes mumble your responses, because you’re not really sure what you’re supposed to be saying, or what it means? You’re not alone! No matter how many days, weeks, months, or years we’ve been going to Mass, we all can use a reminder of what we’re doing now and then. Deacon Tom Johnston will lead us on a guided tour of the Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral (212 East Broad Street) at 7:30—you can still meet us at Gresso’s at 6 for dinner beforehand, or just join us for the tour! - July 15, 2008, What Do I Own, and What Owns Me?, by George Gugle
“ANOTHER second collection this week?” We’re all feeling the burn from $4-a-gallon gas and all the other things that have gotten more expensive lately...so how do we balance the need to pay our bills with our obligation to help those less fortunate with our desire to have our choice of PS3, Wii, or Xbox 360 when we get home every night? George Gugle, Associate Director of Stewardship for the Diocese of Columbus, will have some tips. - June 26, 2008, Do Green and Orange Have to Clash?, by Kathy and Paul Harvey
